Women Who Bore Through Walls
Sarah travelled up from London to tell us tales of five women from Morocco, England and Italy who had to flee their husbands - or in one case, trick the same one into marrying her three times. Tunnelling is very effective when your husband drops you in to an obliette. A hole in the wall is useful when locked in and you're in love with the man on the other side. Pre-marital agreements are useful to stop your husband murdering you for your money, but even that has problems...
A fun filled, fast moving evening of stories.

A seasonal shared meal followed by stories and songs about Christmas and the Winter Solstice.

It may have been dark and cold outside, but inside we enjoyed an interesting and varied collection of Stories from the Floor, with the odd song thrown in too.

Twas the night of Halloween, also known as Samhain. Stubbing Wharf had hosted a Halloween party just before we started, so the room was decorated and the pub full of ghosts, witches and other beings. We enjoyed a varied and entertaining mix of stories from the floor and a seasonal song. The burial of Thomas Hardy, why eyes show as red in photographs, a modern day saint, a fingerbone and ring with magical properties, a flesh eating portrait, and many other manifestations provided us with a magical time inside whilst the dark night and mists engulfed the land outside.

A great atmosphere for Maria's storytelling.
A brilliant blend of the autobiographical and mythic telling which combined levitas with gravitas in equal measure. Poignant, deep, heartfelt and sultry, and also down to earth and homely.
The audience was warm and receptive, full of Shaggy Dog legends as well as some relative newcomers.
All in all a fabulous night's entertainment.
